RALPH

Raised by hippie parents with an elaborate record collection, Ralph (Raffa Weyman) spent her childhood immersed in the sounds of Joni Mitchell, Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young and Prince. As a teen, Raffa would often sing backup for her older brother’s hip hop group, and after studying Musical Theatre and Vocal Jazz in school, Raffa spent several years in an all-girl folk band until finding her voice as Ralph within the world of pop. Leaning into her love of storytelling and genre blending, Ralph’s unique sound is a sonic medley - a stripped down piano ballad about love lost next to a duet with Toronto rapper TOBi featuring contemporary trap drum samples.

Touching on themes such as lust, loss, loneliness, and self-love, Ralph’s sound is sexy but smart, catchy but conscientious, vulnerable but strong.

Embodying this unique soundscape, Ralph has created a special role for herself as an artist to watch. Over the past years she has built an incredible global following, embarking on a cross-Canada tour supporting REVE spring 2024, headline US and Canada tour in fall 2023, a 3-week US tour with JOAN, cross-Canada tours supporting Carly Rae Jepsen, Ria Mae, and Scott Helman, opening for Allie X, HONNE, Oh Wonder, Charlotte Cardin, and Milky Chance and flying across seas for a mini-Euro tour with packed rooms in Paris and London. Her hit track “Gravity” was nominated for Dance Recording of the Year at the 2020 JUNOs, shooting up the Canadian pop radio charts into the Top 20, and her songs have over 45 millions streams on Spotify, with music featured on TV networks such as E!, HBO, Freeform, MTV and VICE . She was also the featured vocal producer on season 1 of Canada’s Drag Race, and wrote and sang the outro theme song for CBC’s ‘Strays’.

However, the scope of Ralph’s talent reaches far beyond her music, as her brand encompasses so much more. With a distinct high fashion meets camp aesthetic, Ralph creative directs everything she does and has been deemed a style tastemaker by press such as The FADER, Billboard, Paper Magazine, Paste, NYLON, Mother Jones, Interview Magazine, Teen Vogue, MTV and People Magazine. Onstage and on camera, Ralph strives to push each visual opportunity to its fullest - aesthetically as well as thematically. Using her spotlight as a platform to tackle social and political topics close to her heart, Ralph’s music videos (all directed by women, including one recently self-directed video!) portray scenes of queer love, female friendship, and gender fluidity, and she has performed at fundraisers for mental health, queer art, HIV and AIDS fundraising, as well as creating and hosting ‘Body Party’, a pro-choice event and concert. As a queer musician and fierce advocate for equal opportunity and inclusion within the music industry, Ralph launched her own record label Rich Man Records in 2020 with the aim to create a safe space for herself and fellow artists.
