David Vertesi is releasing the 15th Anniversary Edition of Cardiography, a new acoustic reimagining of the record that launched his solo career. Originally released in 2010, Cardiography introduced Vertesi’s distinct voice as a storyteller — intimate, vulnerable, and unflinchingly sincere. The album blended lush instrumentation with emotional clarity, earning praise for its melodic craftsmanship and evocative lyricism.
Vertesi returns to these songs with a renewed perspective. Cardiography (Acoustic) strips the material back to its emotional core, highlighting the raw honesty and timeless songwriting that have defined his work ever since. Recorded in a live, minimalist setting, and production by longtime collaborator Daniel Klenner (Peach Pit, Dear Rouge, Hey Ocean!), the new release captures the quiet intensity of Vertesi’s performances and invites listeners to hear the songs as they were first written — simple, direct, and deeply human.
To celebrate today’s release, Vertesi is sharing a live performance video of the acoustic version of album track, “All Night, All Night, All Night”. “I often think about Cardiography as a heartbreak record, but upon re-recording it I realized there’s more to it than that,” says Vertesi. “It sprung from a time when I was learning how to love. The lessons can be painful, but also beautiful. ‘All Night, All Night, All Night’ paints a picture of young love. I wrote this song about sneaking out at night to go sleep over at my then girlfriend’s house and imagining my Dad waking up to discover I wasn’t home. In an album that focuses a lot on heart break, this song means even more, as it is a reminder of what we are fighting for as well as what is lost when things don’t I work out.
“My dear friend Hannah Georgas lent her vocals to the original album and I’m so grateful to have her back again on these acoustic versions so many years later.”
