Vancouver's Haley Blais shares her new single "Matchmaker." On the new song, Haley's smooth vocals and cheeky lyrics float above an eclectic blend of guitars, synths and percussion. "Matchmaker" touches on how the social constructs around us can put pressure on our relationships. "It's a love song about being so confident and safe in a relationship that you start to look for cracks out of fear," explains Blais. The track is the first taste of a forthcoming project due later this year and follows her previously released 2022 singles "Coolest fucking bitch in town" and "Survivor's Guilt," the latter of which arrived with a video directed by Haley herself.
Haley will be playing select shows this summer beginning June 1st in New York City at Baby's All Right, with following shows in Toronto on June 4th and Chicago on June 6th before performing the Phillip's Backyard festival in Victoria, BC on July 9th. Haley will then play a string of West Coast dates, hitting Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Full tour routing listed below and ticket information HERE.
Haley's defiant scream-into-your-pillow pop anthems have amassed 20 million streams worldwide and sold out headline shows across the US and UK, and it all began in 2014 when she started recording and releasing songs from her bedroom. With her 2018 EP Let Yourself Go providing a breakout success with songs like "Small Foreign Faction" and "Seventeen," Haley has been shaping her songwriting craft ever since with more infectious melodies and turns-of-phrase that are as humorous as they are poignant. In 2020, Haley released her debut full-length album Below the Salt, which was produced by Tennis and led i-D to describe her as "Canada's nostalgia pop queen." Blais supported her debut by joining Peach Pit on tour across North America.
Before diving into music full time, Haley, a born entertainer with a natural charisma and sense of humor, found a community on YouTube where she shared her diary entry posts on the latest happenings in her world, collecting 18 million views. Now signed to Arts & Crafts, Haley is gearing up for the release of a full length project set to drop later this year.
